Lots of content savvy marketers will talk endlessly about that the best ways to build links. Many will tell you that the best way to do this is to create excellent, compelling, unique content on a regular basis, optimize and promote it. This method does have one inherent and obvious problem associated with it. Great content still relies on external forces, in the form of 3rd party webmasters, to pick up on your content and link to it.
For some of us, this isn't the easiest thing to make happen. I mean come on, let's be real here - there has to be a better way, right?
To get to the bottom of this, one question we should start with is: what really is a link in most cases? If you think about it in its most basic terms, it's something that a webmaster (read: a human being) has to actually give you - meaning implementation within their website page. This takes time from that person, and time is something that people simply don't have enough of.

 The doomsayers believe the internet is destroying society. They believe our children are growing up socially inept. That their digital lives will cripple, and perhaps even replace, their real world lives.
As we saw in the previous chapter, that isn’t necessarily the case. Humans are hardwired to connect with other humans. And the Internet helps us do that like never before. It is enhancing our humanity. And not just in one country or region, but across the world. Perhaps one day, the Internet will do what the United Nations never could: bring peace (but that’s getting a bit philosophical for this piece).
Where the confusion lies, I believe, is many people are mistaking culture for humanity.
“That’s an odd thing to say Andy. Aren’t they one in the same?”
No. They may overlap, but by and large they are distinctly different.
Culture is determined by where you are born, when you are born, your religious beliefs, your heritage, your language, your climate, the food you eat, the customs in society and so on and so forth.
For instance, a man born in Sheffield in the North of England, would be culturally different from a man born in Bali. To begin with, the first comes from a town where male pride is high. Brawling is a common thing. Looking after number one is drummed into you from an early age. He is likely to be tough, cynical, unforgiving and selfish (please forgive the generalization). A Tap On The Shoulder
A passenger in a taxi leaned over to ask the driver a question and gently tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.
The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove up over the curb and stopped just inches from a large plate glass window.
For a few moments everything was silent in the cab. Then, the still shaking driver said, 'Are you OK? I'm so sorry, but you scared the daylights out of me.'
The badly shaken passenger apologized to the driver and said he didn't realize that a mere tap on the shoulder would startle the driver so badly.
