Many people are drawn to affiliate marketing because they get products and a website to promote from the affiliate merchant. This actually is a good way to start because it gets you in business for yourself and you can begin to learn what will work for you.
However you will quickly find that having your own affiliate marketing website is better than using the replicated website the merchant provides. This does not have to be a complicated process and there are several reasons why you should do it.
1. Affiliate marketing is competitive. If you use the same website as everybody else it is more difficult to make sales. One way to limit your competition is have your own website and make it different than your competitors.
2. You cannot make changes to the merchant's website. This is because you do not actually host it yourself.
When you join an affiliate program you are given an ID number that is inserted into your affiliate merchant website. This is how you are identified by the merchant and given credit for every sale you make.
Some affiliate websites are better than others. This can affect your sales, and not being able to make changes to them can actually cost you money.

This week, the New York Times and BBC News both reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has sent the Wikimedia Foundatation a letter, ordering the removal of an image of the Bureau's seal from its Wikipedia entry.

The boss called one of his employees into the office. "Rob," he said, "you've been with the company for a year. You started off in the post room, one week later you were promoted to a sales position, and one month after that you were promoted to district manager of the sales department. "Just four short months later, you were promoted to vice-chairman. Now it's time for me to retire, and I want you to take over the company.
"What do you say to that?" "Thanks," said the employee.
"Thanks?" the boss replied. "Is that all you can say?" "I suppose not," the employee said. "Thanks, Dad."
Saga Of The Teeth
A dinner speaker was in such a hurry to get to his engagement that when he arrived and sat down at the head table, he suddenly realized that he had forgotten his false teeth.
Turning to the man next to him he said, "I forgot my teeth." The man said, "No problem."
With that he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of false teeth. "Try these," he said.
The speaker tried them. "Too loose," he said.
The man then said, "I have another pair...try these." The speaker tried them and responded, "Too tight." The man was not taken back at all. He then said, "I have one more paid of false teeth...try them."
The speaker said, "They fit perfectly."
With that he ate his meal and gave his address.
After the dinner meeting was over, the speaker went over to thank the man who had helped him. "I want to thank you for coming to my aid. Where is your office? I've been looking for a good dentist." The man replied, "I'm not a dentist. I'm the local undertaker."
