To Play BIG You Have to Think BIG

Throughout my life I've read self development books and listened to motivational and positive thinking MP3 and CD's. Time and time again I read you receive what you think about. I understood that concept because, when I was younger I was often negative and a victim, and guess what? I received what I thought. As I began to change my thoughts my life changed. However, while I was thinking positive thoughts I wasn't thinking BIG thoughts. I limited what I thought. A BIG thought would pop in my head and seconds later the little voice inside me would say, "Oh no, you can't think like that, you're not there yet" or some variation of that thought. I felt it necessary to squash my BIG thought, and eventually I did. Then I learned how to change my thinking.

I learned that to play BIG, really BIG, you have to take the big thoughts that pop in your head and nourish, encourage, take action and believe in them. Here is how I accomplish that, based on real action steps that I take daily.

Be aware of your body when you think BIG.

Your BIG thoughts should create excitement, enthusiasm, internal smiles, and a little bit of topsy-turvey this-is-really-happening stomach flips. Your heart may race (a little) because you are excited. Your pace may quicken as thought after thought pops in your head. You may want to write your thoughts and take action immediately. You mouth may have an uncontrollable urge to lift at the corners, you may have the urge to suppress your smile if you are in a place where no one smiles. You really like the feeling you are having both physically and emotionally. The good feelings reinforce thinking BIG.

Your BIG thoughts will attract role positive models.

You become aware of role models. Your role models may appear in newspapers, books, TV, the internet, or within your own network. You will be attracted to certain books, TV stories, and articles in the paper that have messages for you. You may feel that the information was written or aired just for you.

People who have been there and done that appear in your life with encouragement. You connect with BIG thinking people who have always been in your network but who you never really knew before, suddenly they become an important part of your life.

You want to share your thoughts with the world, however intuitively you keep them to yourself

Intuitively you know that you have to protect your BIG thoughts, like we protect a new born. When a baby is first born we protect it from germs from the outside world. Doctors tell us to keep them home and away from crowds for the first few weeks. We are making sure that they are strong enough to handle negative forces. The same goes for your BIG thoughts, you may want to protect and strengthen them so that outside forces can't negate them from your mind.

Strengthen your BIG Thoughts by:

* Reading daily and infusing your mind with positive, proactive materials. What you put in is what you will get out of your life.
* Taking time throughout your day to sit quietly and think BIG.
* As you think BIG, think about the results you will receive as a reult of your big thoughts. Ask yourself, what would you have, what would you do, who would you be if your big thoughts became a reality.
* Writing about your be, do and haves daily. Imagine yourself already having your be, do and haves.
* Seeking other BIG thinkers. There are groups, associates and people right in your neighborhood who are taking action today. Find them. Go to the bookstore and stand next to the personal development and BIG thinking book department. Like minded people show up there.
* Writing a daily gratitude list. Write about your toes, hands, body. Be thankful for a roof over your head, clothes to wear and food to eat. Start there and get bigger and bigger. Keep it real.
* Having a daily routine. Stick with it for years. DO NOT GIVE UP, ever. You will be amazed at what happens in your life. I know I am.

To play BIG you have to THINK BIG.

It is always your choice.

Just for today practice really BIG thoughts about you and your life. Go ahead be totally unrealistic, be totally out there, think like you did when you were a little kid. Go ahead and think those BIG thoughts, no one can read your mind.

THINK BIG and be free.
